Camu Camu (Myciaria dubia) is an exotic shrub growing in tropical and subtropical areas of the Amazon, mainly in Peru. Its small fruits are one of the richest source of vitamin C. Apart from a high content of antioxidants, camu camu also contains amino acids, calcium, potassium, beta carotene and other phytonutrients. Its fruits are of red or purple colour with light pulp and taste sour with fresh lemon aroma. For production, only full ripe and succulent fruits are carefully collected. They are fermented under low temperatures, in order to preserve the high level of their nutritional values, and
then dried in the sun and fi nally powdered.

Camu Camu is regarded as a fruit with the highest content of natural vitamin C (ascorbic acid). Vitamin C is a strong natural antioxidant which strengthens the immunity and quality of life. It is also rich in proteins, animo acids, minerals (calcium, potassium, iron and phosphor), vitamins (thiamin, niacin, riboflavin) and flavonoids.
