Xylitol is a natural sweetener with a low glycemic index. Compared to regular sugar, it contains approximately 40% fewer calories. It is also suitable for people with diabetes or for people who follow a weight loss diet. Consumption of food and beverages containing xylitol instead of sugar reduces the increase in blood glucose levels after their consumption compared to the food and beverages containing sugar. In addition, it contributes to mineralization of teeth.
